Every child care centre usually has at least one child who suffers from allergies. As a result, it is important for caregivers to be aware of children's allergies, know how to avoid substances that trigger allergies and be prepared to manage reactions.

A very nice overview of allergies, and includes suggestions that can be implemented in any child care centre.

For Health Professionals Professional Organisation's Site Moderate Considerations in asthma and concomitant upper airway symptoms

0%
Vote for this Article

Bronchial asthma has been defined as an inflammatory disorder of the airways. However upper airways are often forgotten either by the clinicians when they care asthmatics or the designers of clinical trials. Nose and sinus are a part of the airways and their role appear to be important in the pathophysiology of asthma; the treatment of rhinitis and sinusitis has to be included in the recommendations.

Not very detailed.

Delayed patterns of food allergy are not obvious and generally go unrecognized. Symptom onset is delayed many hours after eating foods and chronic disease is often the result.

Professional's Personal Site Excellent Eosinophils - mischief-makers in asthma

0%
Vote for this Article

Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell (corpuscle) and take up the red dye eosin when blood is examined under a microscope by the commonest method. They accumulate wherever allergic reactions like those in asthma take place. Their natural role is to defend us against parasites. In fact allergies such as asthma are probably a malfunction of our protective mechanism against parasites.

An excellent look at these cells involved in allergy.
