Searchable Allergen Online Protein Database

The allergen online database contains a comprehensive list of protein allergens. The web site can also be used as a bioinformatics tool to compare any protein sequence to our protein allergen database using FASTA.

www.allergome.org Allergome Allergome Italy
The Allergome web site has been designed to supply information on Allergenic Molecules (Allergens). The Allergome Database is mainly addressed to people working in the
Allergy and Immunology fields.
The Allergome is based on the literature published since the early sixties. The current base is 3800 selected papers (January 2003) and is continuously updated.
All the Allergens and data available in the IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub-Committee web site are currently present in the Allergome Database.

On the basis of stringent immunological and allergological criteria, carefully characterized Allergens that do not fulfill all the IUIS Allergen Nomenclature criteria are included in the Allergome Database.
Allergenic sources without identified Allergenic Molecules are included in the Allergome Database.

www.allermatch.org Allermatch Allermatch The Netherlands
Allermatchtm is a unique website where you can compare the amino acid sequence of a protein of interest with sequences of allergenic proteins. This website carries out automatically the procedures for predicting the potential allergenicity of proteins by bioinformatics approaches as recommended by the Codex alimentarius and FAO/WHO

cooke.gsf.de/wjst/home.cfm Asthma & Allergy & Gene Database Asthma & Allergy & Gene Database Germany
The website is open to all scientists. The mission is to facilitate communication among research groups, to encourage collaboration and to reduce competition on the road to new strategies of prevention and cure of asthma.

We are more and more concerned about 'capitalizing the human genome' which can be seen also in asthma genetics research. Human gene sequences that will eventually lead to new treatment options should not be kept secret longer than a few months. Asthma affects many million of people and free exchange of research results is necessary for any progress.

www.ebi.ac.uk/ European Bioinformatics Institute European Bioinformatics Institute United Kingdom
The EMBL Outstation - European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) is a centre for research and services in bioinformatics. The Institute manages databases of biological data including nucleic acid, protein sequences and macromolecular structures.

The European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) lies in rural Cambridgeshire that make up the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus. The Campus also houses the Sanger Centre and the UK Medical Research Council Human Genome Mapping Project Resource Centre (HGMP). Together, the three institutes provide one of the world's largest concentrations of expertise in genomics and bioinformatics. The mission of the EBI is to ensure that the growing body of information from molecular biology and genome research is placed in the public domain and is accessible freely to all facets of the scientific community in ways that promote scientific progress. The EBI serves researchers in molecular biology, genetics, medicine and agriculture from academia, and the agricultural, biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The EBI does this by building, maintaining and making available databases and information services relevant to molecular biology, as well as carrying out research in bioinformatics and computational molecular biology.

www.ifrn.bbsrc.ac.uk/protall/ Protall Protall United Kingdom
This site is a review of Protall. A European network of over 30 scientists with expertise relevant to studying the problems of food allergy, with funding from the European Union until December 2001. The new network ‘PROTALL’ brings together clinicians, food scientists and plant biologists. We are examining the relationship between the allergenic potential of plant food proteins, their molecular structures and biological activities.

www.expasy.ch/sprot/sprot-top.html SWISS-PROT SWISS-PROT Switzerland
SWISS-PROT is a database of over 92,000 annotated protein sequence entries. It is cross-referenced with approximately 30 other database.
